August 30, 2011 Energex warn of delays in PV Connections

Energex, like all Distribution Companies, have received an overwhelming number of requests to connect solar to the grid. As a result Energex have informed Sanctuary Energy they are currently unable to meet the 10 business day time frame that applies to solar PV jobs. At present, the average time for solar PV service requests not requiring an appointment is approximately 39 business days.

August 4, 2011 NSW Premier request IPART review Solar Generation payments.

The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal are required to perform an investigation into the establishment of a fair and reasonable value for electricity generated from small scale solar photovoltaic generators.

May 31, 2011 Queensland Regulated Retail Prices for 2011/12 announced.

From 1 July 2011 the price of electricity in Queensland will increase (prices listed are ex-GST):

  • Tariff 11 20.69 c/kWh + $7.96 per month
  • Tariff 31 8.44 c/kWh (minimum $5.54)
  • Tariff 33 12.43 c/kWh (minimum $5.54)

May 24, 2011 Queensland Community Ambulance Levy increase announced.

From 1 July 2011, the Queensland Community Ambulance Cover levy will increase by 3.6% in line with the increase in the Australian Bureau of Statistics Capital Cities Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the year ending 31 March 2011. The annual levy amount will increase from $109.05 to $112.98. The daily rate will increase from 29.887 cents to 30.869 cents.

May 13, 2011 The New South Wales Government announces permanent closure to Solar Bonus scheme.

The New South Wales Government has announced several changes and closure of the Solar Bonus scheme.

  • "Applications received prior to the 29 April 2011 but yet to be connected to the Scheme will be progressed and considered under the eligibility criteria".
  • "Customers eligible for the 60 cent tariff will see their tariff rate reduced to 40 cents from 1 July 2011 for the remainder of the Scheme."
  • No applications received after April 28, 2011 are eligible for State Government feed-in tariff / Solar Bonus scheme credits.
  • No changes have been made to customers participating in the 20c Solar Bonus scheme.

May 11, 2011 The Queensland Government announces fairer system for electricity prices.

The Queensland Government has announced that from July 1, 2012 new pricing tariffs will be brought into effect. The new tariff structures, like those used in southern States will encourage lower usage at peak times through higher prices for those times of day.

April 29, 2011 The New South Wales Government elected to suspend the Solar Bonus scheme.
